The University of Surrey has equipped their TV studio with a three camera GY-HD251 HD setup, ideal for their teaching and broadcast requirements, and are looking to include the new GY-HM700 camera into future plans.
“We were given a broad brief to create a studio fit for a teaching environment,”
Brian Johnson, Television Manager at the University of Surrey, reveals. “After extensive testing in both studio mode and using our green screen, we decided that JVC’s equipment
was the best quality product for what we needed.”
The television studio, which is open five days a week, is used on a daily basis by students, as well as for Media Training courses, designed for professionals within education and industry.
“We chose JVC’s GY-HD251 HD cameras as they produce the perfect colour for what we’re creating, which is essential to production,” Brian states. “The studio camera rig is solid and practical, perfect for students and for a teaching environment. The television studio has been designed and fitted with diversity in mind; it’s used to produce content for both the University’s television media degree course, and also for the Guildford School of Acting.
The University of Surrey uses full HD through the studio, with Apple’s Final Cut Pro for editing. Brian Johnson is already looking towards JVC’s latest cameras too, “We’re going to buy two ProHD GY-HM700 cameras for location and studio purposes as they fit perfectly with the workflow already on offer. JVC cameras and equipment provide us with fantastic pictures, especially as our studio is quite small. We’re looking forward to using the GY-HM700 cameras."
