JVC’s VN-V Series chosen by Italian Police Station

London, 29 June 2010 – JVC Professional, with ITM Telematica Srl system integrators, are pleased to announce that twenty one cameras from its V-Networks IP camera series have been installed at the police station control room of Palau, Sardinia, to monitor crime in the surrounding area.D

The JVC cameras have been installed in nineteen positions across the town including the town’s port and square and in schools and parks. The installation includes four VN-X35U 1.3 mega-pixel cameras and fifteen VN-V686WPBU external PTZ Network dome cameras.

JVC’s cameras have been integrated on an existing system based on VMWare virtual machines, of which twenty links via radio at 5Ghz.

In order to have a wireless connection, there are also twenty WiFi access points at 2.4Ghz which enables on-the-move police officers to have access to both the live and recorded video.

DVPN control plates, SMS and email alert system contribute to the reliability of the data and police officers can exploit the headquarters’ LAN Network using the same connection but using different internet connection. This connection enables police officers to check number plates for example, and the outside connectivity is assured through two symmetrical HDSL 4 Mbps omniwave, in order to have the access to the system by other police forces.

JVC’s cameras were chosen over many others for their reliability, ease of installation and the speed and accuracy that the Direct Drive offers which is critical for this important installation.
